As “Force Friday” comes to a close and all the new toys are slowly beginning to sell out, there is still one bargain for Star Wars fans to marvel over until October 4th.   If you live anywhere near Seattle, there is a gem of an exhibit at the EMP Museum at the Seattle Center called “Star Wars and the Power of Costume”.

I had the pleasure of going to the EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum last month and can say this Museum is one of the premier pop culture museums in the country.  Even if you are not into Star Wars, the museum currently has exhibits on Indie Gaming,  Wild Blue Angel: Hendrix Abroad, 1966-1970, Music Creation (in an exhibit called” Sound Lab”), “We are 12″ an exhibit on the Seattle Seahawks, Infinite Worlds of Science Fiction, Can’t Look Away : The Lure of Horror Film, Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic , Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses ,  What’s Up, Doc? The Animation Art of Chuck Jones , and the previously mentioned Star Wars Exhibit.    This museum has absolutely everything  Pop Culture related and could easily keep you occupied for hours upon hours with more amazement.

The Star Wars exhibit is sponsored by the Smithsonian, Lucas Museum and Lucusfilms.  When you enter the exhibit, you are greeted with the “Cantina Song” and go up the Millennium Falcon lighted staircase.  On your left, you see an early version of Yoda and then make your way up to the Obi-Wan robe.   While the first floor is mainly Episode 1-3,  you do get to see R2D2 and C3Po on the ground floor as well as videos from Natalie Portman & George Lucas.  On the second floor, you have all your Episode 4-7 stuff including Han Solo, Chewbacca and a small special room for Darth Vader.   On top of the great exhibit, the Star Wars store has probably some of the greatest Star Wars related shirts and hoodies I have ever seen on this or any other planet.

While the Star Wars Exhibit is an extra $8 on top of the $25 museum admission, it is still one of the biggest bargains in Seattle.

However, if you want to see more of Seattle and save (Space Needle, Boat Tour, Aquarium, Pacific Science Center & the EMP,  I urge you to buy the City Pass for $69

I can’t say enough good things about this exhibit and the EMP Museum as a whole.  The “Star Wars” exhibit is expected to make a 12 city tour and I urge you to go check it out.  This exhibit is perfect the way it is and doesn’t need a “Lucas Special Edition.”  This was the perfect topper for a great trip to Seattle.

Check out and “like” our small sampling of photos on Facebook and our video walkthough of the exhibit on You Tube.  Please remember to “subscribe” to see more of  our videos.
